Wistron Launches $700M Fort Worth Plant for NVIDIA's Next-Gen AI Superchips

First U.S. facility from Taiwanese manufacturer will produce Grace Blackwell Ultra and Vera Rubin architectures at scale

Wistron has opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas — a 324,000-square-foot plant dedicated to producing NVIDIA's most advanced AI superchips. The $700 million facility, known as D1, currently operates two manufacturing cells: one for the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip and another slated for the upcoming Vera Rubin Superchip.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Wistron Chairman Simon Lin presided over the opening ceremony alongside Taiwanese officials and local leaders. Huang emphasized that manufacturing infrastructure forms an essential pillar for national economies, framing the plant as evidence of U.S. reindustrialization for the AI era.

The facility has already created over 500 jobs spanning construction, plumbing, electrical work, and advanced manufacturing, with plans to reach 1,000 positions by year-end. Production targets aim for tens of thousands of boards monthly as the plant scales.

Beyond chip fabrication, the Fort Worth operation represents a complete domestic supply chain capability — skilled workers, factory infrastructure, and logistics networks capable of adapting as architectures evolve.

As AI compute demands accelerate, will geographic concentration of advanced manufacturing in Texas create strategic vulnerabilities or resilient innovation hubs?
